Flatiron Building
November 15, 1925
Also called the Fuller Building, it is unique with its triangular shape that splits Broadway and Fifth Avenues at Twenty-Third Street. Designed by Chicago famed architect Daniel Burnham and constructed in 1902, it used the unheard of steel frame design. This twenty-two story skyscraper follows that of Beaux Arts style. A late nineteenth century design approach that was meant to reflect the buildings of Europe's past. Considered by many as the oldest remaining skyscraper in New York City, it is worth a visit for anyone interested in architecture or urban design. The Flatiorn Building has recently rekindled its fame when the movie Spiderman II used the building as its headquarters for the fictional newspaper The Daily Bugle.
